My Story
As a mum of four children, my interest in healthy eating began when I first became aware of what I was putting into my children's bodies. I was still working with my first two children, so time was limited when it came to preparing meals, and I felt uncomfortable about using pre-made, processed and freezer foods on a regular basis.
Around the time I was pregnant with my third child, a close family member was struggling with depression and anxiety, severely affecting quality of life, happiness and relationships. This had been building up over 3 years, and had reached a crunch point. Not wanting to resort to prescribed medication, they looked at diet and lifestyle to see if that would help. It was both amazing and shocking to see how quickly they improved with some fairly simple dietary changes. This made me realise how much the food we eat can affect every aspect of life.
I began learning more about nutrition, lifestyle and holistic health. I started a healthy food blog focusing on food that was simple, nutritious and beautiful, and began advising others about healthy living. Friends and family would often come to me for help and suggestions.
Once my children had all started school, I decided I wanted to become a health coach in order to help more people. In 2020 I officially qualified as a Nutrition and Lifestyle Coach with the Institute of Health Sciences.
I have had various stages in my life where my physical and mental health has not been at its best. The pressures of work, stresses of daily life and a battle with emotional eating have all contributed to less than perfect health at times, but by refocusing on my goals, and putting my knowledge into practise, I have learnt that good wellness habits and a focus on healthy eating are crucial to feeling healthy, happy and whole.
